New appreciation

When you are injured and can't do what you love to do, you often find yourself appreciating the little things you took for granted before. Being out of a healthy routine was the biggest, but there were a few other things that I realized during my 6-month sabbatical. First, I appreciate the elliptical machine. I used to make fun of people who used the elliptical, but truth be told, it got me through the winter when I couldn't do much else. So now I don't mock the people bouncing around reading magazines nearly as much as I used to. Second, I have a new appreciation for dry, chlorinated skin. Moisturized skin is overrated. It means you probably slept in, had a liesurely shower, and put lotion on at the perfect time for maximum benefit. Finally (for now), I appreciate accountability. When you don't show up for practice for a few days, you get ribbed by your lanemates. When you don't show up to the gym, nobody cares. In fact, they are happy because one prime location machine is open.

Today's workout:

  1. Great to have you back, even if you did make me lead the main sets.
