Run, BB, Run!

Update!! Marathon Morning. Skies are blue, temps are cool, and BB gives a shout out to the lanemates...

Blog from Friday, April 17, 2009:

It's Marathon Weekend, the true official start to Spring in New England, and one of our own Lane three-ers is taking on the tough course Monday. Some of us will be between mile 18 and 19 so if you'd like to stop and have a beer, we'll be there, Bob!

The first set of the day was, as you will see, a set of five 150s. It got me thinking about what could be going through the mind of our wonderful coach as we did main sets of 150s both Monday and Wednesday. Did he say "you know, Lane 3 seems to do really well with 100s, and they just crush the 200s, but I am concerned about their capacity for 150s, so this week it will be "all 150s, all the time". Let me just say if USMS offered 150s in competition, we would be ready.

Thanks to R, we had a new set and it was, as Martha says, a good thing.

300 WU (SB only - the rest of us chatted on deck)
3 x 100 drill/swim
200 swim
6 x 50 count stroke and "snap yo' hip" (no comment)
5 x 150 going:
50 fast :10r then 100 easy on 1:45
75 fast :10r then 75 fast on 1:25
100 fast :10r then 50 easy on 1:05
100 easy on 1:45 (so it really wasn't all 150s)
150 hard faster than 1:54, which we all did easily
Main set, courtesy R
Three times through
3 x 100 fast pull on 1:25
200 swim on 3:30

Loved it. Lots of rest on the 200s so we didn't really loaf it, it was more of a tempo swim.

It is supposed to be 70 today - the first time since last year. Enjoy the holiday weekend, Go Sox, Celts (poor KG) and Bruins.

And, of course, Good luck BB and everyone who is racing this weekend!
